Follow up story: Stolen police gun used in home invasion
The other day I posted about a property owner that killed two masked thugs that broke into the house he owned and demanded money at gunpoint. I had been wondering where these thugs got this gun. Obviously they got it at a gun show. Because we all know that's where all of the criminals buy their guns. We know this because The Brady Campaign and the main stream media keep telling us so. Well, the Louisville Courier Journal printed this story today:

Stolen police gun used in home invasion

The gun that one of two teens brandished when they were fatally shot during an apparent home invasion this week had been stolen from a Louisville Metro Police officer, police said.

Officer Phil Russell said the gun was stolen in 2006 from an officer’s car or residence.
Let me repeat that. "
the gun was stolen in 2006 from an officer’s car or residence." Wha-wha-wha-what? The gun was STOLEN? No way!

Here's a little more info on one of the slime balls.

Jefferson County court records show that Springer was arrested May 23 on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. He had been released on his own recognizance and had a court hearing set for June 16.

In May 2007, Springer was convicted of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and sentenced to 60 days in jail, which was conditionally discharged.

No records were found for Turner.

Turner was the one in my prior post that the television stations were holding up as a good kid. Well, he may have been, but he chose to associate with the wrong crowd. That almost never turns out well.

I swear the City Of Louisville oughta give Mr. Jackson a medal and a parade.

Property Owner Kills Home Invaders
Shooting Was Self Defense
Louisville, KY June 3, 2008

Two teens are dead, but police aren't charging the man who shot them with a crime.
"For sure, there's not a doubt in my mind, my wife and I would be dead if I didn't do what I did," said property owner Billy Jackson.
Jackson said he was sprucing up an apartment in the house he owns at 3517 West Broadway when two masked men forced their way inside. He said one had a large gun, and threatened to kill him and his wife.
"I figured I was going to die and they were going to die, too," said Jackson. "I faked a heart attack; shot him in the side."
"At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun," said Metro Police Detective Phil Russell. "The property owner was assaulted. He sustained minor injuries."

The two dead would be robbers names are Earl Springer and Dazmond Turner. Both were 19 years old.

Police said Springer died at the scene, while Turner died early Wednesday morning at University Hospital.
"They will confer with the commonwealth attorney's office in order to determine if charges need to be placed," Russell said. "At this time in the investigation, it looks as though this was self-defense."
Good for you Mr. Jackson! Once again an armed citizen refuses to be a victim. Two less scumbags and potential career criminals on our streets.
Here is the troubling part of this story. The local media is not portraying one of these two masked bandits as a criminal. They are making him out like he is the victim. This particular reporter interviews the invader's aunt. (video here) In which she tells the reporter about how the this home invader was going to get his GED. He was going to be a father. He wanted to play in the NBA. He was supposed to be going to Florida to be with his mommy...

Boo f*****g Hoo!

This man broke into someone's home! He or his partner had a gun! At least one of them assaulted the homeowner and threatened his life! I do not feel sorry for him at all. Personally, I am thrilled that there are two less criminals on the streets.

Holy DNA Batman!
Former president campaigns in Hardin County

Bill Clinton's schedule calls for a campaign stop on his wife's behalf Thursday night at John Hardin High School.

Bill Clinton will campaign here Thursday for his wife in a final get-out-the-vote push just days before Kentucky Democrats have their say in the marathon struggle for their party’s nomination for president between New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.

The former president will appear at 7:30 p.m. at John Hardin High School for a "Solutions for America" campaign event, the Kentucky for Hillary committee in Louisville announced late Tuesday.

Well, well, well. It seems that our fair city of Elizabethtown, KY will be graced with a former President of the United States. Yes, Mr. Hillary Clinton is scheduled to make a campaign stop at a local high school for his husb... oops... wife here in the city I work. Unfortunately, I will be out of town all day. There is an off chance that I may be back in time for the scheduled 7:30pm appearance. If I can I will swing by there to see what kind of crowd he will draw and maybe get inside to see him. Despite of the man's politics and actions, he is a former President. It's not an opportunity that comes along very often. How many times does a normal (some say I am Abby Normal) citizen get a chance to see a President? Not often around here anyway.

Earthquake
This morning at around 5:37 am EST an earthquake occurred near West Salem, Illinois. According to the USGS it was a 5.4 magnitude. That is 124 miles (straight line) from where I live. No injuries have been reported anywhere as far as I know.

This is only the second earthquake I have ever experienced. The first was just a few years ago and it was just a little shiver. This one was definitely the strongest that I've experienced. It woke me and the wife. The house was shaking a bit. I heard creaking and a little popping. Basically the same sounds we hear if there are high winds outside. I got up and looked outside to see if it was wind or a storm. Of course, there was no storm. It didn't take too long before I realized what it was. I'll have to admit, it was a bit unsettling. But still kinda cool!

I'll post more if anything develops. Especially if we experience any aftershocks.

EDIT/UPDATE:
Just about 10-15 minutes before 8 am EST, the USGS downgraded the quake from 5.4 to 5.2

UPDATE: 11:15am EST
I felt an aftershock here in KY. According to the USGS Website it was a magnitude of 4.5. It only lasted a second or two here. Causing the walls to shake slightly and a slight rumble. Just thought I would pass that along.

Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot Canceled
Read more at their forums or at http://machinegunshoot.com

This spring's Machine Gun Shoot scheduled for April 11-13 at Knob Creek Range in Kentucky has been canceled due to flooding. There has just been too much rain in the last month. (Kentucky is already at the same amount of rain as we had in June of last year.) This means that a great part of the lower areas at KCR is underwater. This includes the lower parking area, lower gun range and the Jungle Walk. Even if waters did recede in time, the ground would still be too saturated for walking, much less parking.

This is the only entrance/exit to the range. Normally that water is about 10 feet below the bridge. More pics at machinegunshoot.com

For those of you that do not know what I am talking about. Here is a video of the night shoot.

SEC Coach Of The Year
ukathletics.com GoVolsXtra.com
Billie Gillispie and Bruce Pearl were named SEC Co-Coach of the Year. Both coaches had a great year. A lot of Kentucky fans were writing off Gillispie during the first part of this season. However, once the team came together things really turned around. UK ended regular season conference play with a record of 12-4. They now have a first round bye in the SEC Tourney and will most likely make a 17 consecutive appearance to the NCAA National Championship Tournament.

The Vols were ranked #1 for their first time ever. They also won their first regular season SEC Championship in just over 40 years. They also stand (in my opinion) the best chance at winning the SEC Tournament Championship.

Kentucky takes down #5 Tennessee
#5 ranked Tennessee Volunteers came into Rupp Arena tonight to take on a struggling University of Kentucky Wildcats.

I missed the first 10 minutes or so of the first half. But after I joined in UK was giving Tennessee a good game. Several times UT had a 10 point lead but never was able to put it away. UK would keep battling back but never could get the lead.

Until the second half. UK never did lay down and let a very tough Volunteer squad walk over them. Tennessee went cold and allowed UK to make a comeback, take the lead and hang onto a HUGE win in the SEC.

66 - 72 UK FTW!!!

I honestly didn't expect UK to play them close. Tennessee is a very good ball team. UK has not had a good season to say the least. However, since they started SEC play they have been a completely different team. They are hustling, fighting, and WANTING TO WIN. I am encouraged more and more when I see them playing like they have been since the start of 2008. They survived a previously unbeaten Vanderbilt in 2 overtimes. They lost a close game to Mississippi State. And an overtime loss to Florida. Then this big win against Tennessee.

Folks we are starting to see what Gillispie has been trying to tell us was coming. Their record now is 8- 9 overall and 2-2 in the SEC. Go Cats!

UT vs UK (III)
Great game (if you don't have a heart condition).

Kentucky should have won it in OT #2 but the field goal was blocked. In the 4th OT Tennessee scored and got the 2 point. Kentucky scored and missed the 2 point.

52-50 Tennessee! EMB: I tried to call you, was a great game, hope you got to watch it.

#1 no more
The University of Kentucky hasn't beat a #1 ranked team since 1964. That streak ended today. #17 UK knocked off #1 LSU 43 to 37. Despite doing their best to help LSU win. Turnovers, interceptions, and penalties including a delay of game penalty in the 3rd overtime. It's a good time in the Bluegrass tonight.

More info and stats.

Next week, Univeristy of Florida.

University of Kentucky Football

Finding the right baseball bats or the correct basketball shoes may not seem that big a deal to you, but surely it does matter to your eleven year old that his golf carts are being filled with the right golf equipment. The wrong type of golf clubs is more than enough to put them off golf and you might as well be buying lacrosse equipment for the rest of your life.

For the first time since 1977 UK has beaten a top 10 team. Earlier tonight, the Wildcats pulled an upset win on instate rivals, the University of Louisville. Thanks to a touchdown pass from Woodson to Johnson with only 28 seconds remaining. Kentucky's defense then stopped a last second drive by Louisville to end the game with a final score of 40-34.

Also, Andre Woodson broke the SEC record for most passes without an interception with 257 and counting.

This is the first time in years that I thought UK had a chance at beating Louisville going into the game. Then after seeing a few minutes of the 1st quarter, it looked like UK was really psyched up and out for the kill.

I am looking forward to Tennessee. :)

Slain boy's father arrested on an unrelated charge
A new twist on the story I posted on July 18 about the mother of a slain 4 year old facing deportation.

Now we have the father of that same boy getting arrested in Lexington, KY on charges not related to the murder. But they are related to his status as an immigrant.

Louisville Courier-Journal

Slain boy's father arrested on an unrelated charge

César Aguilar, the father of the 4-year-old boy whose body was found in a garbage truck last month, was arrested yesterday in Lexington on charges unrelated to his son's death.

Aguilar is being held at the Lexington-Fayette County Detention Center on possession of a forged instrument, a class D felony, and several traffic violations.

Federal immigration authorities also placed a hold on Aguilar at the jail, according to jail records.

The story then mentions funeral arrangements and how this poor man may not be able to attend. *sniffle* Please excuse me while I get a tissue.

Aguilar was booked into the jail under the name Carlos Contreras-Salazar. Family members say his birth name was César Aguilar, said Christopher 2X, a community activist and spokesman for the family.

Aguilar is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges at 12:30 p.m. today.

Lexington Police pulled him over about noon yesterday at New Circle and Leestown roads. Police found he was driving without a license, insurance or current registration plates, according to jail records.

His vehicle also had no windshield wipers, which carries a charge of driving with obstructed vision.

Under his picture the caption reads: "César Aguilar was being held on possession of a forged instrument." I am purely speculating here but I assume that means he had false identification. So chances are that this guy is in the country illegally. Driving without a driver's license. No insurance. Expired tags. False I.D. Great. Just great. This family is turning out to be a bunch of fine upstanding citizens.

Hopefully both the mother and father will face consequences for their actions. In my opinion, the mother should be deported as soon as the police are able to get enough information to convict her son's murder. The father should spend time in jail for all of the charges he is currently facing. Then, as soon as he is done with that, boot his ass out of the country.

If you want to come here and be a part of the greatest country in the world, do it the right way. Follow the rules and wait your turn like millions have before you. If you choose to break the law and come to, or remain in, this country illegally I will have no sympathy for you. Hasta la vista. Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.
