| DC City Council is at it again |
The Washington Times
D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty on Monday announced the proposed emergency legislation, which allows guns to be registered for self-defense in the home, requires that a ballistic record be kept on a registered gun, clarifies safe-storage requirements and makes clear that a "carry" license is not required to have guns in the home.
City officials said the legislation will "clarify that firearms in the home must be stored unloaded and either disassembled (or) secured with a trigger lock, gun safe or similar device," with an exception made for a firearm used against a "reasonably-perceived threat" of immediate harm to a person within a registered gun owner's home.
These people just simply do not get it. What will it take for them to understand. Hopefully one of these days DC will elect a gun friendly City Council & Mayor.Labels: 2nd Amendment, guns, Washington DC, Washington Times |

| Follow up story: Stolen police gun used in home invasion |
The other day I posted about a property owner that killed two masked thugs that broke into the house he owned and demanded money at gunpoint. I had been wondering where these thugs got this gun. Obviously they got it at a gun show. Because we all know that's where all of the criminals buy their guns. We know this because The Brady Campaign and the main stream media keep telling us so. Well, the Louisville Courier Journal printed this story today:
Stolen police gun used in home invasion
The gun that one of two teens brandished when they were fatally shot during an apparent home invasion this week had been stolen from a Louisville Metro Police officer, police said.
Officer Phil Russell said the gun was stolen in 2006 from an officer’s car or residence. Let me repeat that. "the gun was stolen in 2006 from an officer’s car or residence." Wha-wha-wha-what? The gun was STOLEN? No way!
Here's a little more info on one of the slime balls.
Jefferson County court records show that Springer was arrested May 23 on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence. He had been released on his own recognizance and had a court hearing set for June 16. In May 2007, Springer was convicted of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and sentenced to 60 days in jail, which was conditionally discharged. No records were found for Turner. Turner was the one in my prior post that the television stations were holding up as a good kid. Well, he may have been, but he chose to associate with the wrong crowd. That almost never turns out well.
I swear the City Of Louisville oughta give Mr. Jackson a medal and a parade.Labels: 2nd Amendment, crime, guns, home defense, kentucky, louisville, personal defense |

| Property Owner Kills Home Invaders |
Shooting Was Self Defense Louisville, KY June 3, 2008
Two teens are dead, but police aren't charging the man who shot them with a crime. "For sure, there's not a doubt in my mind, my wife and I would be dead if I didn't do what I did," said property owner Billy Jackson. Jackson said he was sprucing up an apartment in the house he owns at 3517 West Broadway when two masked men forced their way inside. He said one had a large gun, and threatened to kill him and his wife. "I figured I was going to die and they were going to die, too," said Jackson. "I faked a heart attack; shot him in the side." "At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun," said Metro Police Detective Phil Russell. "The property owner was assaulted. He sustained minor injuries." The two dead would be robbers names are Earl Springer and Dazmond Turner. Both were 19 years old.
Police said Springer died at the scene, while Turner died early Wednesday morning at University Hospital. "They will confer with the commonwealth attorney's office in order to determine if charges need to be placed," Russell said. "At this time in the investigation, it looks as though this was self-defense."
Good for you Mr. Jackson! Once again an armed citizen refuses to be a victim. Two less scumbags and potential career criminals on our streets. Here is the troubling part of this story. The local media is not portraying one of these two masked bandits as a criminal. They are making him out like he is the victim. This particular reporter interviews the invader's aunt. (video here) In which she tells the reporter about how the this home invader was going to get his GED. He was going to be a father. He wanted to play in the NBA. He was supposed to be going to Florida to be with his mommy...
Boo f*****g Hoo!
This man broke into someone's home! He or his partner had a gun! At least one of them assaulted the homeowner and threatened his life! I do not feel sorry for him at all. Personally, I am thrilled that there are two less criminals on the streets.Labels: 2nd Amendment, guns, home defense, home invasion, kentucky, louisville, robbery, self defense |

| How to keep others from reading your old hard drives |
These days identity theft is big business. There are a multitude of ways that a bad guy can get your personal data for his gain. Among these methods is your old computer hardware. Particularly the hard drive in your old computer. Most people would say that wiping the HDD will be enough. Programs like Darik's Boot and Nuke are incredibly good at removing all the data on your old drives. But if you aren't careful, you can erase data on a different drive that you wanted to keep. Not that I've done that! Ok. Maybe once... Anyway, I thought I would offer up my way of dealing with this problem.
Step One:
Remove the old drive from the computer. You might want to make sure that you are removing a drive that you want to keep. There is no Undo option here. This are a couple of old hard drives that I had laying around the house. This method will work on any size hard disk. It makes no difference. (Click on image for larger version)
Step Two:
Select your tools. In this particular situation. I have chosen a Taurus model PT24/7 Pro in .40 S&W. The particular ammunition was Blazer Brass 180 grain Full Metal Jacket. Your tools may be different from mine, but I think you can see where this is going. ;) Step Three:
Find a safe place to work. It must be well ventilated. Plenty of light. Most of all, BE SAFE! Do NOT handle a firearm of any type unless you know what you are doing. Step Four:
Proceed with your work. I recommend repeated applications. As many as you like. I only stopped after a few hits because I could no longer get the HDD's to stay in one place long enough for me to get a shot off. WARNING! This may result in uncontrollable grinning and/or giggling.

Step Five:
Sleep soundly with the knowledge that your data has been protected! Sorry for the largeocity of the pictures. That's the smallest I could post without shrinking the originals even more.Labels: 2nd Amendment, computers, data, EvilMidniteBombr, guns, hard drives, hardware, identity theft, NRA, shooting, Taurus |

| Concealed Carry Stops Shooting Spree |
Please check out this story from the Reno Gazette-Journal Winnemucca, NV
On Sunday May 25, 2008 at approximately 2:30 a.m. the Winnemucca Police Department was dispatched to the Players Bar and Grill located at 1062 South Grass Valley Road on the report of numerous shots fired and multiple gunshot victims. The officers on scene discovered three adult males who had died from obvious gunshot wounds. Two additional gunshot victims were also located. Those two gunshot victims had non-life threatening injuries and were later release from the hospital.
The initial investigation indicated that there had been two separate shooters during the incident. One of the alleged shooters, Ernesto Fuentes Villagomez, age 30 of Winnemucca, was among the three men who were dead on arrival. The other was a 48 year old Reno man who was initially taken into custody at the scene as a person of interest.
The subsequent investigation lead detectives to believe that Villagomez entered the bar and at some point began firing multiple rounds. At least two of these rounds struck and killed the other two decedents, Jose Torres age, 20 and his brother Margarito Torres, age 19 both of Winnemucca. At some point during this shooting spree Villagomez allegedly stopped and according to witnesses reloaded his high capacity handgun and began shooting again.
It was at this point that the second shooter, the Reno resident, produced a concealed handgun and proceeded to fire upon Villagomez who succumbed to his wounds. The Reno resident was in possession of a valid Concealed Carry Permit issued through the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting was determined to be a justifiable homicide and the unnamed Reno man was released with no charges filed against him.
Good for him. I hope the man gets a medal.Labels: 2nd Amendment, concealed carry, EvilMidniteBombr, gun laws, guns, self defense |

| Buy a car, get a free gun |
A car dealer in Butler, MO is offering free gun or free gas with the purchase of a car. Max Motors is offering $250 for gas or gift certificate toward the purchase of a handgun. According to their website "We are aware of the gasoline and crime problem in America. (We) want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem."
According to an interview with KMBC TV
"Like I say, it's a choice -- protection or gas," said Walter Moore with Max Motors. Moore said he came up with the gas or guns promotion. "We got high gas prices, theft, carjackings, innocent people getting hurt," Moore told KMBC's Chris Nagus. So far, the handgun is a more popular choice. "Right now were running 80 percent toward the gun," Moore said. According to their website the response has been overwhelmingly supportive of this campaign. Hell, I wish I lived closer to him so I could buy a car from him. I've had my eye on a sweet little Taurus compact .40 cal.Labels: 2nd Amendment, bulter, cars, guns, max motors, missouri |

| A Woman And Her Gun |
WAVE 3 News Woman grabs gun, foils burglary at her home Mother's Day turned out to be one that won't soon be forgotten for Donna Dedas.
Dedas and her son returned home to find a strange truck parked outside and two men inside their home - 40 year-old Larry Tedrow and 43-year-old James Brewer. That's when Dedas took action. "I went in the backdoor and came up the steps and as I was going up the steps the two men had my pillowcase and things in their hand and they went right out the front door," she said."I got my gun and came out and got on the deck. I yelled at them to get down on the ground, then they jumped in the truck." There are so many things that could have gone wrong in this situation. Especially if she hadn't been armed. If that had been the case, she may have not entered the house. The report never says in what town or area that she lives. Since they only mentioned it as Bullit County (no pun. that really is the name of the county) I am going to assume that it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. If that is true, the time it would take for law enforcement to get there would be an eternity. Especially when there are two men in your house stealing your valuables (and food).
Dedas says one of the suspects then began dumping jewelry out of his pockets onto the road. Bullitt County Police tell WAVE 3 this was not the first home the pair hit Sunday afternoon. At least four others were burglarized that day with computers, a digital camera, .357 magnum handgun and more than $800 stolen. And it appears that was not all two were taking. "These nuts, stealing meat, that's a little different," Detective Scotty McGaha told WAVE 3 News, as he pulled three packs of meat from a police department freezer. Donna Dedas also had a package of meat taken from her freezer. Yeah. They were stealing meat, too. Go figure.
You never know when you will be the victim of a random crime. It really could happen to anyone. To me, the most important thing in this situation is that this one woman was made equal to two grown men because she is an armed citizen. Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton both want to take away your right to own a gun. We cannot afford to let them get into the White House. It is imperative that these two are defeated. More importantly, we HAVE to elect men and women into the Legislative branch that believe in the Constitution. That believe that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right. That believe it is our God given right to be able to defend ourselves and fellow man by any means necessary. This woman is walking proof of how important it is to be able to defend yourself and your home. If BHO or HRC (to a slightly lesser extent Juan McCain) make it into the White House you can bet your bippy that the 2nd Amendment will be one of their first targets.

| Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot Canceled |
Read more at their forums or at http://machinegunshoot.com
This spring's Machine Gun Shoot scheduled for April 11-13 at Knob Creek Range in Kentucky has been canceled due to flooding. There has just been too much rain in the last month. (Kentucky is already at the same amount of rain as we had in June of last year.) This means that a great part of the lower areas at KCR is underwater. This includes the lower parking area, lower gun range and the Jungle Walk. Even if waters did recede in time, the ground would still be too saturated for walking, much less parking.
This is the only entrance/exit to the range. Normally that water is about 10 feet below the bridge. More pics at machinegunshoot.com
For those of you that do not know what I am talking about. Here is a video of the night shoot. Labels: 2nd Amendment, EvilMidniteBombr, flood, guns, kentucky, knob creek, machine gun, shooting |

| Hostage situation at University of Louisville |
WAVE 3 TV Louisville, KY | Police arrest woman with gun at UofL Belknap campus
A woman who walked into a health services building with a gun at the University of Louisville about 8:30 a.m. Thursday briefly took a counselor hostage before being disarmed, and that incident may be connected to the discovery of the bodies of two young children in an Okolona home....
According to campus police, the woman is a student, and used a gun to hold her female counselor hostage. We're told the student was at the health center trying to get some sort of help, but the situation quickly turned confrontational. Here is the chronology as presented in the news reports.
- 8:30am (approx) Woman arrives on campus with a gun.
- 8:32am A distress alert came in from student services, asking for an officer.
- 8:34am Campus police dispatch was notified
- 8:39am A UofL police officer arrived on the scene.
- 8:43am That officer called for backup.
- 8:46am That officer found the suspect.
- 9:04am UofL officials used the new campus alert system to warn students and staff about the armed student, sending emails and text messages to students as well as broadcasting an alert over a PA system.
- 9:13am Student was disarmed.
Thank God that no one on campus was harmed. The anti-gun crowd will hold this up as a victory for the system. I'm sure that they will mention that the police arrived and disarmed the suspect and no lives were lost and no injuries reported. While this is partially true, you must realize that if this woman truly wanted shoot someone on campus, she had approximately 17 minutes to do so before she was found by campus police. Seventeen minutes. That is an eternity when someone has a gun with no one there to stop them. 17 minutes. I argue that the system did not work, merely that the gunman (in this case woman) did not have the conviction to kill... again.
LMPD officials now confirm they received a call from campus police asking them to check the home of the student, and that's where police found two young children who had been fatally shot. I have not heard details of exactly what happened but sadly it appears that this woman took the lives of her children before she left for the UofL campus.
In a related point... Here is a quote that I just had to post. I love this:
"The university immediately notified the campus through our emergency communication system," UofL President James Ramsey said.
This is priceless! Since when is 18 minutes immediately? EIGHTEEN MINUTES! But it's ok. The campus is a gun-free zone.

| GB Internet Gun Dealer Partners With Students |
From WFRV.com:
Eric Thompson, president of the Web-based firearms and sporting goods dealer that sold firearms and accessories to the shooters in the Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois University massacres, Cheap shot. Right up at the top, first sentence, of the story. Liberal bais? (EMB)
Next month Thompson and TGSCOM, Inc,... will partner with the 22,000 member Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (SCCC) organization by supplying holsters for the organization’s second annual empty-holster protest.
snip
SCCC, founded in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, and Thompson share the same mission – to allow licensed individuals to carry concealed firearms on campuses for self-defense.
In April, thousands of students from across the country will wear empty holsters to their classes in protest of laws and school policies that do not allow licensed and trained individuals to carry a firearm in supposed “gun-free zones” on campuses. The protest will be staged the week after the one year anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings. I doubt the uppity Libs that run these college campi are listening to THE PEOPLE THAT PAY THEIR SALARIES. But clearly many students do not feel that these colleges are doing enough to make things safe for them on campus. Unless they plan on posting armed security in every class room on campus, there is no way that a college can guarantee the safety of their students from a person with murderous intent. And putting up gun free zone signs are nothing more than saying "Hey, you'll be able to pop a dozen people, have time to reload, and drop several more before you even have to worry about someone trying to stop you." State legislatures and college campi need to get rid of this gun free zone = safety mentality.
Before you say, more guns are never the answer. Ask yourself this... How many times have you heard of a gun store being the victim of an armed robbery? How many shooting sprees happen at gun shows? When was the last mass murder that happened during an NRA meeting? I didn't think so.
When seconds matter, the police are only minutes away.Labels: 2nd Amendment, colleges, concealed carry, gun laws, guns |

| Why you should carry every day |
Here's a good commentary on why every law abiding citizen should carry their weapon with them at all times. Not only thinking short term. As if what might happen if I am only going to get some milk? But what may happen in the long term if more citizens are armed and trained to use the 2nd Amendment to protect their freedom.
Some excerpts from that article. (linked below)
WorldNetDaily commentary Why you should carry every day By Gerard ValentinoSeveral spree killings in non-permissive places like colleges or in states that don't have concealed-carry laws have blasted the gun-control debate back onto the national stage. Pro-gun advocates accurately pointed out that in Illinois, where two of the spree killings took place, citizens are denied their constitutional right to self-defense through the right to bear arms. Being disarmed in the face of a deranged killer must be a terrifying experience.
Even worse, however, is finding yourself at the mercy of an armed thug after you made the decision not to carry because you were just running to the store.
Since the creation of the failed social experiment gun control has become, the establishment media have taught everyone simply to give up their possessions to criminals. The liberalism pervasive in schools has also created generations of people who were taught not to fight back if attacked by another student. Students who are victimized are prohibited from fighting back as a means of protection, which has left us with a generation incapable of dealing with the tyranny of common thugs that prey on people.
Being submissive to criminals has left us with an element in society that uses the false hope of pacifism as an invitation to attack people with impunity. I really like this next quote.Since the creation of the failed social experiment gun control has become, the establishment media have taught everyone simply to give up their possessions to criminals. The liberalism pervasive in schools has also created generations of people who were taught not to fight back if attacked by another student. Students who are victimized are prohibited from fighting back as a means of protection, which has left us with a generation incapable of dealing with the tyranny of common thugs that prey on people.

I am passing along a link to a Philadelphia Inquirer poll on whether or not Concealed Carry should be allowed on college campuses. Please take the time to vote. I know that internet polls aren't at all scientific and aren't worth the paper they are printed on. But hopefully someone in the mainstream media will notice one day and actually report on it.

| The difference between victim and victor |
This story actually happened back in November but it has just come to my attention. I wanted to post it and add a few comments.
911 audio (may not be suitable for all listeners): http://www.nbc5.com/download/2008/0110/15020797.mp3
Original story:Hammond woman fatally shoots alleged stalker
November 14, 2007 (HAMMOND, Ind.) -- A northwest Indiana woman shot her alleged stalker to death. Police say 41-year-old Ryan Lee Bergner broke into the woman's home in Hammond Monday night. The 51-year-old woman called 9-1-1 and hid in a closet with a gun she had been given for protection. She says she shot him when he opened the closet door and started choking her. His family says Bergner was a good man. Neighbors say the woman's action is understandable. "There is no way there should be any charges on her. It is justifiable homicide. She was on the phone with police. They told her exactly what to do. What more are you asking for when some guy's coming at you? I mean, that's defense," said Alison Joseph, woman's neighbor. Story update can be found here:
She said she was watching television when she heard a window break and called 911. She was hiding in a closet when she says 41-year-old Ryan Bergner came into the room. That's when she shot him with a gun she acquired that day. (emphasis added by EMB) "What are you doing? Stop it. Stop it, stop it," the victims says in the emergency call. "He's in the room with her," the 911 operator says. "Stop it, stop it," the victim continues, then a scream is heard. Earlier this week, the prosecutor decided not to charge the woman. (emphasis added - EMB)
This is a prime example of how a person turned the tables on her attacker and refused to be a victim. By defending herself she very well may have saved her own life.
As good as the police are, they simply cannot be everywhere. As the 911 audio shows, it can take several minutes for the police to get to you when you need them most. This woman did everything she could to avoid this man. Everything that all of the anti-gun people tell you to do. Call 911. Lock the doors. Retreat to another room. Hide.
None of which did any good. He still came after her. Locked doors did not stop him. Locked windows did not stop him. A call to 911 did not stop him. An armed citizen did.Labels: crime, EvilMidniteBombr, guns, hammond, handgun, Indiana, self defense |

| Quote of the Day |
From Kim du Toit: “I don’t believe that any gun should be in the hand of a thinking, feeling, breathing human being. Americans are by nature filled with rage-slash-fear. And guns are a huge part of our culture. I know I’m crazy because I’m only supposed to say that in Europe. But violence corrupts absolutely.”
In the interview, she talks about how The Brave One was not the correct title for what the movie was really about. You'll have to click over to see who said that (and read the comments about it).
Hard to imagine the thought process that instantly thinks that guns cause violence instead of people.Labels: guns, quote of the day |
